Willow's big wish when she was turning three was to go with Grandma Ruth to the "Kazoo"! The Portland Zoo is a great place, so off we went to spend the day., a couple of days before her birthday. And what a great photo of her Uncle Sebastian!!
LOOK and see!
Can you guess
who is 3 ?
Her best friend had a "Princess" birthday party, but Willow wanted Butterflies and flowers! What creative ideas her mommy came up with for a unique and wonderful party!
It was planned as an outdoor Picnic and planting party, but of course, it rained and had to be re-thought. So it began with an indoor picnic, after which they went outside onto the front porch (briefly). There was a raincover provided to help keep dry, but it was still a bit windy. Each girl received a pretty planter with a butterly motif and was able to plant some marigold seeds.
Then back indoors to make tissue paper bouquets with their mommies! What fun! When the bouquets were finished, they proceeded to color and decorate their very own butterfly wings and have them attached for a group photo.
The butterfly cake was made and decorated by mommy too! And then there were the presents! Each girl went home with a balloon, a potted seed, butterfly wings and a bouquet of flowers! How cool is that!
A whole flock of pretty yellow butterflies flitted about the room!
Willow had her friends over on the Saturday before her birthday. On her actual birthday, which was a weeknight, family traveled to be with her and eat pizza and cake. She had three sets of grandparents, Uncle Joe and Aunt Ariel, Aunt Samantha and Mikayla, as well as Uncle Sebastian in attendance!
The following week she had her portraits done again at SEARS just as Grandma Ruth has been doing the past couple of years.
Willow spent a week with Grandma Ruth in mid April while her parents went to Hawaii, and then spent two weeks traveling with her mommy and Grandparents when we went to California for Aunt Kendra's wedding. She was able to visit and play with cousins Austen, Dhruva, Elizabeth, and even baby Katie for an evening!
When they returned from that trip, they moved the following week out of state and away from Grandma Ruth and all her friends ready for a new adventure.
Can you see her angel wings here?
This picture was one her mommy requested as a pose after the photographer had done several. These four were the only ones that turned out,
but they are beautiful portraits.
None of the full length ones showing her beautiful dress from Grandma Battrick turned out well enough to purchase.
