Kandle Michelle Ruth Salway and Christopher John Battrick were married and sealed in the Portland Oregon Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 9 Oct 1997
Great friends were there from the start, and of course many showed up to help set up the reception the night before and have a good fun time together. A little hairspray added to the fun as they toiled to locate and set up all the items as listed according to the layout plans.
Naturally, there was also a good turn out of family and friends gathered at the wedding beforehand.
Naturally, candles were in abundance!
Kandle and her brother, Ryan, designed the wedding gown, which her Aunt Iva proceeded to sew for her. Aunt Iva also made the beautiful cake as her wedding gift.
Things were actually pretty casual, and it was a big family and friends party with dancing and bubble blowing, food and fun.
It was such a beautiful setting, that Zoe dubbed it the Princess Party and enjoyed parading about with the bride and pieces of her attire until Grandma Ruth later made her a personal bouquet.
Note the full sleeves on the bridal "overcoat" designed in a medieval type pattern. It laced up the front and was removed to reveal a beaded bodice gown.
There was plenty to smile about.
Christopher sang a wedding song to his bride, and they proceeded to dance to "Lady in Red", while the guests blew bubbles around them.
The wedding party included friends of both that they had known since Junior High School and before. Also a sister or two and some brothers, of course!
Although not a very complimentary photo of the bride, she did need to grab a quick bite to eat during the evening. This photo shows some of the beading detail of the under dress bodice once the overcoat was removed.
They both agreed completely that the poppyseed cake was wonderful! They also managed to grab some of mom's hand dipped chocolate peanut butter balls along with nuts and mints through out the evening.
Bouquets of balloons in white, purple and clear were scattered about the room as well to help carry out the bubble theme.
Plenty of purple and florals were spread about the room.
Grandparents of the bride are pictured below.
A perfect "Princess Party" day for a happily ever after .
As zany as all their friends are, they were able to keep their car clean by including them all in the wedding party so that they were unable to get away to mess it up!
Upon cleaning up, however, the bulk of the balloons ended up being tied to the car in any accessible spot so that they blew in a fury around them popping all the way down the freeway as they drove off into the sunset to begin their new life together as man and wife.
